Honoring our Intuition

This week we are setting our intention to tune into our intuition.

When we practice tuning into our body, our sensations and our intuition, we honor the powerful messages and guidance we receive.

Understanding Intuition

When we understand intuition and tune into it we can remove the blocks that keep us stuck.

Intuition is that quiet voice within that protects us, guides us, knows what is best for us and will steer us in the right direction – even if it doesn’t make any “logical sense”

So, the question is…

“How do we know if what we are experiencing is our intuition?”

And my answer to that is…

“Are you experiencing love or fear?”

Let’s dive deeper…

First let’s review our Ego and our Soul

  1.  We are all Souls. Each and every one of us came into these physical bodies as souls. Love is the pure essence of every Soul. We are all born intuitive and within each of us is this essence of pure love.
  2. Our ego-personality developed over the years as we grew up learning how to function in this world. Our patterns, habits, behaviors, judgements and fears are all apart of our personality.

Our intuition, insights, inspiration, creativity & ideas all come from within, from our Soul, which means they also all come from love.

  1. When we make a decision from love, joy, compassion, kindness & gratitude we are making a decision from our Soul. This is our intuition.

Our guilts, judgements, hostilities, anger, resentments, shame and depressions all come from the ego-personality, all of which originated from the outside world of fear.

  1. When we make a decision from fear, judgements, hurts & pain, we are making a decision from our ego-personality. We all learned this and come by it honestly. This is not intuition though, this is fear.

Our ego is not “bad” it truly just wants to protect us. It wants to protect us from pain, failure and rejection but when it does this – it comes from a fear-based perception. It is that voice in our head that says we should or shouldn’t do something (based on fear or uncertainty) or points out all the obstacles, roadblocks, and problems that keep us stuck.

Our ego, even though it thinks it is keeping us safe is really keeping us stuck and small. Stuck in the literal feeling of fear and uncertainty, our ego’s internal chatter throws doubt into every scenario which then convinces us to stay in the fear. Why do we listen to our ego? Most likely it is because we don’t trust ourselves. It may also be a mistrust of the outer world; however, the root of the mistrust always comes from within.

When we make a commitment to ourselves to practice tuning into our intuition with the intention of making it stronger, we can begin to build this trust within ourselves. When we create this trust within ourselves, we listen less to the fears of the ego and begin to experience the benefits of listening to our intuition.

Those who trust their intuition, trust themselves and the Universe

Intuition is the quiet voice within, our inner guidance that comes from love and comes right from the Soul.

Our intuition will NEVER…

  • Doubt our worth
  • Make us feel small
  • Judge us
  • Criticize us, belittle us or emotionally beat us up
  • Make a decision based on fear
  • Blame, shame or guilt us
  • Keep us dwelling in any problem

Our intuition will ALWAYS…

  • Protect us
  • Know what is right for us
  • Guide us away from danger and towards safety
  • Direct us towards opportunities & possibilities
  • Guide us towards better options, choices and habits
  • Encourage us to embrace change
  • See synchronicities & coincidences in our world as positive signs
  • Lead us to drop our judgements and to open our awareness
  • Make decisions based on love (for ourselves and others)

How does our intuition do this?

With feelings, sensations & knowing’s in the body. Our intuition doesn’t think, it feels, senses and knows.

 Our mind and ego think

 Our body and intuition feel

If you want to tune into your intuition…think less by connecting to your breath and feel it expand throughout your body with every inhale and release out of your body with every exhale. As you practice doing this, your thinking mind begins to think less and your body feels more.

This is where the commitment to our daily meditation practice is crucial and life improving.

In meditation and stillness our intuition eventually finds it’s voice and our mind finds a space for listening. Yoga practices, walks in nature or any other mindful movement practice can carry on this mind/body/soul communication and incredible clarity, insights and creativity can be found from these practices.

For some, this could be a scary concept. Many people use their monkey mind thoughts (or other subtle or even harmful addictions) to distract themselves from what it is that they ARE feeling. It was a coping mechanism that the ego used to keep them safe (most likely from trauma they experienced). If this is something you recognize you do – I would highly recommend you seek some professional council to help you work through these fears, feelings and emotions. Trapped emotions will eventually show up as illness or dis-ease.

Our intuition can be our guiding light if we let it, to let these trapped emotions be heard and released

Our body holds all the wisdom. If we have closed down the connection to our feeling body, then we have closed off all the wisdom & intuition that our body holds.

Intuition speaks to us through our body and through our senses. Intuition is an inner knowing that is hard to define, easy to dismiss but so very vital to honor. When you trust it, practice tuning into it and learn to listen to it – it will always steer you in the right direction.

How do we experience intuition through our body and senses?

Intuition is;

  •  That feeling in your belly or a tightness in your chest when you feel uneasy about a situation
  • Goose bumps when you meet an “important” stranger
  • A flash of insight/clarity or inspiration.
  • A continual “niggle” in your belly or butterfly’s in your stomach.
  • Reoccurring sensations that are trying to get your attention (examples; headaches, ringing in your ears, aches…)
  • An aha moment.
  • A suddenly brilliant solution to a vexing problem.
  • Confidence in a decision others would deem “illogical”
  • You may notice your sense of smell, sight, taste, hearing or sensations in your body are enhanced as you tune in.

The key is to take the time to listen and feel inward.

The outside world is often so loud and busy around us that it affects our inner experience and if we do not take the time to bring awareness to our intuition, sit in silence with our breath and listen inward, the internal chatter of our fear-based ego personality can and will control our experience.

 This week’s daily intention setting practice;

Today, I tune into my intuition.

Ways to tune into your intuition

  • Breath awareness
  • Yoga
  • Mindful awareness of feelings & sensations
  • Meditating

Meditation helps us to quiet this internal mind chatter of the ever so critical ego-personality and allows us to sit, in the often-uncomfortable silence of our thoughts – if we practice this regularly, meditation will align us with our Soul intuition.

We may hear, sense it, feel it – but that doesn’t always mean we will follow it…

But that is for another week 😊

This is the journey of our lives
