How to get what YOU need
How do we get our needs met on a regular basis?
How do we attract all the things we want?
The answer to these two questions is the same…
GIVE to others whatever it is that you want and open yourself up to RECEIVE all the goodness back
Ask yourself…
“What do I want more of in my life?”
More money?
You will need to get this flow of circulation started by GIVING more money and graciously RECEIVING all money when it comes in.
More love?
GIVE more love and graciously RECEIVE love when it is given to you
More respect?
GIVE more respect and graciously RECEIVE respect when it comes back at you
You get the point 😊
This week is all about giving
It is also about receiving
Learning to balance both our giving & receiving energy equally is how we ultimately get our core needs met.
Last week we challenged ourselves with the intention to not judge, criticize or complain about anyone or anything.
I am 100% sure we all met this challenge with a few bumps along the way 😊
Whether we found ourselves judging or complaining about a situation, a particular person, or our own selves there was definitely a lot to learn through this challenge.
Basically, when we find it the toughest to not judge or complain is when our own core needs are not met.
So how do we get our needs met so that we can practice non-judgement?
First, we need to understand the 4 core needs that every human-being thrives on.
What are these 4 core needs?
- ATTENTION
- AFFECTION
- APPRECIATING
- ACCEPTANCE
Let’s break these down…
- Attention; listening to be heard, not to be fixed. Giving your full attention.
- Affection; caring, hugging, loving touch, being loved, offering love.
- Appreciation; noticing good things in others.
- Acceptance; letting everyone BE themselves – not trying to change anyone – letting ourselves be authentic – not changing ourselves in order to be liked or to fit in
Every single human-being is deserving of these core needs
Where do you feel these needs are not met for you and where can you begin to generate this flow by giving out the EXACT THING you desire…to others?”
These core needs carry an energy
We are all energy! Energy is all around us and within each of us. This energy is consistent, it is everlasting and it is intelligent. This intelligent energy within each of us keeps our heart pumping, our food digesting and keeps us alive & breathing while we sleep at night. Our thoughts are energy, our emotions are energy, when we GIVE anything – whether it’s a compliment, a gift, a hug, our blessing, money – it is creating energy. Same thing when we RECEIVE something (a compliment, a gift, a hug, someone’s blessing or money) this also creates energy.
The idea is for us to keep this energy circulating. And when we keep it circulating it gains the momentum to attract to us what it is that we truly desire.
We must consciously give AND receive equally in order to keep this intelligent flow of energy balanced in our lives.
What goes up, must come down. What goes out, must come in.
Giving & receiving are different energies but are both very powerful and required to create this flow, if we stop the flow of one, we interfere with this natural intelligence.
We have no control over this natural intelligence – it simply is the law of the Universe – what we do have control over is balancing the flow of giving and receiving in our world.
For each of us this will be different. Some of us give way more than we receive and some of us receive more than we give. No judgement of where you fall – however our awareness here is key for this flow to be balanced.
GIVING what we want to RECEIVE more of in our life and then allowing ourselves TO receive is how we create this balance.
There is a “cosmic/karmic” catch though…
We do not give with the intention that we will receive it back.
We give with the intention to create happiness.
To bring happiness & joy to ourselves & the ones we are giving to.
We all know that feeling when we have given something to someone that they love and appreciate – it FEELS good! This is the energy we put behind all of our giving’s.
Whether you give a;
- Smile
- Compliment
- Hug
- Gift
- Flower
- Note of appreciation
- Prayer or blessing
- Kindness
- Affection
- Acceptance
- Your full attention
Give it with the intention to create happiness.
Give it unconditionally and give it from the heart.
It is the INTENTION BEHIND OUR GIVING that is most important.
If we give grudgingly or only with the intention that we will get something back – the flow has been blocked. We have stopped the flow. We need to shift our flow back to giving unconditionally.
To also keep this flow going, we need to be very open to receiving.
If we are unable to receive any of the above mentioned “gifts” back into our life – we are also blocking the flow. How many of us need to open up to the energy of receiving? Which leads to the question for those who do find it difficult to receive – how do I let it in?
My answer to that is based on what I have found works best for me;
Relax and consciously soften the tension within your body (through your regular practice of meditation, stillness & silence) and surrender to the energy of receiving. I know within myself that when my body is holding onto tension – I am blocking the flow of receiving. When I consciously allow myself to relax, I let in the flow.
The only way you will know if this is true for you… is to practice it yourself 😊
What next?
Take an inventory of your life currently. What is out of balance? What do you want more of in your life? What need or needs are missing from your life?
Are you seeking some attention? Affection? Do you wish you were appreciated more for all that you do? Do you long to be accepted or even simply accept yourself for exactly who & what you are?
This week, focus on giving out exactly what it is you wish for, seek, want or desire for yourself. In the giving, the laws of the universe will balance it with receiving. Possibly in different areas at first – but it will all come around as long as you do your best to keep the balance of giving & receiving in your life.
This Week’s Intention
As always you need to script your intention in a way that feels best suited for you; here are a few examples to give you a base and to get you started.
- Today, I give my attention to ______ (replace attention with any of the other 3 needs affection, appreciation, acceptance)
- Today, I give _____
- Today, I wish happiness & laughter to everyone I see
- Today I give the gift of my attention by listening to hear (not fix)
- Today I acknowledge the good in everyone I see
- Today, I will tip generously with every service I receive.
And for those who need some practice receiving
- Today, I will relax and fully receive…(a hug, compliment, gift, attention, affection, appreciation, acceptance)
Let’s get this energy circulating! Not only will it create happiness & joy in the world around us but we may just get all our needs met and attract exactly what it is that we want in our lives. Sounds like a win-win situation to me and well worth the effort 😊
