Lately I’ve been reflecting on an unusual question: What does self-love sound like?
In the past I have spent time thinking about what self-love looks like. Or what self-love feels like. But what does it sound like?
At first, the question seemed a little strange – even for me 😉
Yet the more I sat with it, the more I realized how much my life – or rather – all of our lives are influenced by sound, words, and vibration.
Stay with me for a moment and think about it
- What does stress sound like?
- What does fear sound like?
- What does criticism sound like?
- What does self-judgment sound like?
Most of us know those sounds quite well. And we also know how they feel.
Sometimes they come from the world around us. Sometimes they come from our own thoughts. And over time, if we’re not careful, those sounds can become the background music of our lives.
But what if we became more intentional about what we’re listening to? What if we became more aware of what we’re tuning into each day?
Because everything carries energy.
- Words carry energy.
- Conversations carry energy.
- Music carries energy.
- Environments carry energy.
- Our own inner dialogue carries energy.
And whether we realize it or not, these energies affect our nervous system, our emotions, our mindset, and our overall well-being.
Throughout history, humans have instinctively used sound as a way to reconnect with themselves. Time spent in nature listening to birds, wind, water, and silence – but also in;
- Singing
- Chanting
- Drumming
- Sacred music.
- Prayer
- Mantras
Every culture has recognized that sound has the power to shift us.
To calm us.
To ground us.
To help us remember who we are.
I personally believe that the Soul naturally moves toward harmony.
Toward peace.
Toward love.
Towards a calmer nervous system.
And perhaps one of the most loving things we can do for ourselves is become aware of what we are allowing into our vibrational energy field. Not only through what we eat, how we move, or how we care for our body. But through what we listen to;
- The conversations we participate in.
- The media we consume.
- The shows we watch.
- The words we repeatedly speak to ourselves.
- The environments we spend time in.
And perhaps most importantly… the voice we use when speaking to our own heart.
Because maybe self-love isn’t always something we do. Maybe self-love is also something we hear. Perhaps it sounds like:
- Silence
- Laughter
- Music
- Nature
- Prayer
- Mantras
- A trusted friend’s voice
- Your own voice finally speaking to yourself with kindness.
This week, I invite you to become curious.
What are you tuning into?
What sounds nourish your Soul?
What sounds help you feel grounded?
What sounds bring you peace?
And perhaps most importantly… What does self-love sound like to you?
Namaste my friends;
Leslie 💙🙏
