The theme for this week is to disconnect as much as we can from technology and instead connect inward with ourselves and outward with those around us. Herein lies our ability to create balance in so many areas of our life. There is still time to join the personal development on-line classes – these classes and this community will help you gather the tools and support to find this connection and balance. (contact me at leslie@wellnessdefined.ca for information on registering)

In today’s blog we get the chance to meet, see, hear, understand and eventually embrace our ego-self. With this awareness to our personal connection wellness wheel we intentionally integrate the last two wellness wheel teachings and awareness’s to find freedom and our happiness.

We go inward to connect with ourselves and our ego AND we go outward to connect with friends, family and the rest of the world around us.

We unplug

In order to truly connect inward we need to first commit to disconnecting from technology. This means we “unplug” from our phones, TV’s, computers etc. and we get really cozy with ourselves.

This week is all about feeling connected personally within and letting ourselves truly belong in the world around us – no matter where we are, who we are with or what is happening.

For many of us our ego has spent a lifetime fitting in or doing all that is needed to feel like we belong or are in control. For others our ego has rebelled against fitting in and has done all it can to convince us we don’t want or need to belong anywhere. Either way – our ego is acting out of fear and is ALWAYS sure it is protecting us.

Let’s begin with some questions that need to be answered honestly (note; there are a lot of questions here – they are to be answered at your own pace and over-time – they are meant to equip us with some internal inquiry to converse with our ego-self and shine some light on our Soul. Be still, connect to your breath, let yourself feel the questions and go deep – avoid answering the questions too quickly – the ego-self likes to “get it done” the Soul likes to relish in the awareness’s, understanding and clarity)

  1. What is the state of your personal life? Do you make time to connect with your feelings and emotions? Do you make time to connect with your desires, your passions and your creativity?
  2. Do you have an open, healthy and respectful personal connection with yourself – with both your ego (fears), and your Soul’s (heart) – Can you feel the difference?
  3. Do you allow yourself some alone time – just you? Do you enjoy being alone? Do you often seek the company of others to avoid being alone?
  4. How is your connection with others? Do you make time to connect with friends and family? Do you have close friends that you can count on in a pinch and are you that close friend to others? Do you get along with others pretty well? Do you get along to keep the peace, fit in, belong or please others? Do you feel like you belong somewhere, anywhere or nowhere?
  5. Do you feel safe in your body? Do you care for your physical body with respect, acceptance and love?
  6. Do you feel safe in your relationships and life? Do you feel loved? Can you express love freely? Do you like who you are? Do you know who you are? Do you feel most of the people in your life really “get you”?
  7. Are you overall pretty happy? Do you allow yourself to have fun, be fun and enjoy life? Do you laugh a lot?
  8. Do you feel free to be who you are, in all environments (at work, with friends and family, out at social events) or do you find you shift parts of your personality in order to fit in and belong within some of these environments? Can you adjust and adapt within any environment – without losing sight of your own values? Are you comfortable in your own skin?
  9. Do you agree that every person on this planet is equally worthy of love, respect and acceptance? Or do you believe that one needs to earn it (making love conditional) Do you judge others who do not see things the way you do? Are you confident speaking up for yourself or others, without worrying about being judged, criticized or ridiculed?
  10. Do you feel like you are often being pulled in a million different directions? Do you often feel underappreciated and/or overwhelmed? Do you often feel as if there is not enough time?

Are you still with me?

These are some pretty loaded questions that can help us face our truths, our fears, our ego and our Soul. They can also scare us away and right back to the distractions and numbing of technology and TV.

These questions if we let them, can help us get very real with our physical and human existence in this lifetime.

These questions can trigger us mentally (feel the need to defend and tell our story) and/or trigger us emotionally with feelings of anger, anxiety or the desire to shut down our emotions.

These questions are a starting point that will allow us to integrate not only the last 2 weeks of the wellness wheels into our life but they will help carry us forward into the remaining 5 wheels. This is so we can create balance in our life. So we can find healing within ourselves, our relationships and our life.

Asking ourselves these questions over time will help us find the freedom to be our true selves (beyond the ego) and the happiness to live our life with less struggles and obstacles and more ease and simplicity.

Print these questions out. Set the intention to sit quietly in stillness or walk quietly in nature – then turn inward and ponder one question or topic at a time. Be honest, be vulnerable and be non-judgmental. Let yourself be fully seen, heard and understood by YOU and love your ego-self through it all. Move onto the next questions when you are ready.

Be curious, be gentle, and be loving

Show up for yourself and connect inward to understand the ego-self within

By showing up for ourselves

we intentionally bring our Soul to the forefront of this process

We can then show up for others on a deeper level

When we practice going inward and reflecting on these questions, we learn to listen to others. Truly listen. Meaning we listen to understand and accept them and their point of view, not judge, correct or fix them.

This is not an easy thing to do. As a society we have been taught to judge, so connecting outward is a great life opportunity for all of us to re-teach ourselves on a regular basis to let go of our judgements and learn to accept others – especially those who do not see or experience life as we see or experience it.

As we connect with others in our life (whether they be family, friends or strangers) can we;

  • Listen with acceptance and without judgement?
  • Let others be themselves – especially when they are much different than we are?
  • Let others have their own opinion – especially when they are much different than ours – and we want to be right?
  • Focus on what is good about them vs all that we perceive as wrong about them?
  • Freely express our acceptance to them?
  • Love beyond our fears?

Personal connection wellness aligns us with freedom. The freedom to be ourselves and let others be themselves. It is a freedom that leads to happiness and brings us into alignment with what it is we were placed on this Earth to do.

Freedom is loving ourselves and others without condition

Without conditions is freedom from judgement, freedom from criticism, freedom from complaining which is essentially freedom from our own personal fears.

When we take the time to disconnect and unplug from technology and all that we let distracts us and instead tune inward to understand ourselves on a much deeper (Soul) level, this allows us to connect on a Soul level with others outside of ourselves. This is creating balance in our personal connection wellness wheel. This is powerful. We connect, we play, we love, and we enjoy all of life. We belong. We belong everywhere and we belong nowhere.

“You only are free when you realize you belong no place – you belong every place – no place at all. The price is high. The reward is great…”

~Maya Angelou

What is the reward? Freedom! Freedom to live in a space of peace and appreciation. Freedom to live an open-hearted life. Freedom to expand in love, happiness and abundance and inspire others to do the same.

Too good to be true? What beliefs stand in the way of you achieving this freedom and happiness for yourself? It doesn’t mean that the world around us is roses and unicorns, it means that as life unfolds all around us, in heartache and suffering, in disaster, trauma and sickness that we have decided to align with an internal peacefulness that allows us to trust in the flow and process of life.

Step towards intentionally disconnecting from technology and distractions as much as you can. Connect into your personal power. Ask the questions. Feel into the answers. Let yourself be vulnerable. Strengthen your inner and outer connections and build up the confidence within yourself so that you know, trust and believe that you belong! You belong anywhere, everywhere and nowhere. You belong to yourself.

Believe that you are worthy of loving and being loved – without conditions.

Connect to your inner truth which is always in alignment with love and begin to discover and uncover your personal core values. (tune in next week!)

When we know what our core values are and we align them with love, we are in alignment with our truth. When we are in alignment with our truth, we know who we are and what we stand for.

This is the beautiful energy that lies beneath and beyond our physical bodies – this is the connection we are all seeking.

Freedom

Free to love, free to play, free to feel and free to be ourselves. When we are free to cry, free to laugh, free to be angry, scared or sad, then we are free to express, free to release, free to be passionate, excited and happy.

This week we disconnect and unplug from the distraction of technology and we connect wholeheartedly, open-hearted, and fully inward – this is personal connection Wellness.

This Week’s Intention

  1. Disconnect from technology (phone, TV, computer, email) as much as you can – definitely while talking with anyone!
  2. Spend time alone. Go inward. Reflection questions. Notice comforts, discomforts, emotions and thoughts. Be curious, kind and non-judgmental. Let your ego-self come out and love yourself through it all.
  3. Connect outward. Connect with a particular person. Connect with a stranger. Plan a lunch or dinner with friends and put your phone and all technology away. Listen, laugh, love unconditionally and release the need to correct, fix or judge.
  4. Laugh more. Love more. Take life less seriously and have fun!

Have a fabulous week of connecting and reflecting my friends!

Leslie
