🌿 Before You Press Play…

This week’s Tap In is one I’ve been especially looking forward to sharing again.

It’s one of my favourite recordings from the early days because its message is so simple… and so easy to forget.

Over the past four years, my understanding of these teachings has continued to evolve, so I’ve updated the accompanying blog while leaving the original video just as it was.

Sometimes it’s wonderful to look back and realize that timeless wisdom doesn’t really change… We simply grow into it.

I hope it inspires you to pause, tune in, and perhaps see your senses—and yourself—a little differently.

Enjoy…

Have you ever noticed how differently you experience the world depending on what you’re paying attention to?

The same song can feel energizing one day…and overwhelming the next. The same meal can feel deeply nourishing…or simply become something you rushed through without noticing. The same walk outside can either feel ordinary…or become exactly what your body and mind needed.

Not much changed.

But you did.

Your Senses Are Gateways

There’s a beautiful Ayurvedic saying:

“How well you age comes down to how well you take care of your senses.”

The more I study Ayurveda, the more I understand the wisdom behind those words.

One of the teachings I love most is that we experience life through the gateways of our senses.

  • Everything we see…
  • Everything we hear…
  • Everything we smell…
  • Everything we taste…
  • Everything we touch…

passes through these gateways before becoming part of our inner experience. Our senses are constantly feeding our body… and our mind. And this is why awareness matters so much.

What Are You Feeding Yourself?

Over the past few weeks, we’ve explored…

  • Food.
  • Digestive fire.
  • Sleep.
  • Nature’s rhythms.

At first glance, they might seem like completely different topics.

But they’re all connected.

Each one influences how we feel, how much energy we have, how clearly we think, how well we sleep, and ultimately… how balanced we are.

This week I’d like to expand that conversation. Because nourishment isn’t only about food.

We’re constantly feeding ourselves… Through the music we listen to.

The conversations we have.

The images we see.

The environments we spend time in.

The people we surround ourselves with.

The thoughts we repeat.

Every experience becomes something we’re digesting.

And just like the food we eat… Some experiences nourish us. Others leave us feeling depleted, overstimulated, anxious, or exhausted.

Ayurveda gently reminds us that our senses are always taking in information. The more aware we become of what we’re feeding our body, mind, and heart, the more we can support our natural state of balance.

Begin Noticing

Rather than asking, “Is this good or bad?”

Try asking… “How does this make me feel?”

Does this music calm your nervous system… or create tension?

Does scrolling your phone leave you inspired… or exhausted?

Does spending time in nature help you breathe a little deeper?

Does laughter soften or enlighten something inside you?

Your body already knows. The invitation is simply to notice.

Small Acts of Self-Care

Sometimes balance doesn’t require changing your entire life. Sometimes it begins with one small choice.

  • Listening to music that lifts your spirit.
  • Opening a window and breathing fresh air.
  • Preparing a nourishing meal.
  • Giving yourself a few quiet moments before the day begins.
  • Stepping outside.
  • Calling a friend who makes you laugh.
  • Closing your eyes for five slow breaths.

These aren’t luxuries. They’re ways of nourishing the gateways through which you experience your life.

Coming Home

“Coming back to your senses” isn’t really about your senses… it’s about coming back to yourself.

Because when you begin paying attention to what you’re feeding your body… your mind… and your heart… balance naturally follows.

Stay curious. Stay open. Simply BE.

Namaste my friends,
Leslie 💙🙏
