There’s a belief I didn’t grow up with.
In fact… it was a belief that was quietly dismissed in my world.
Even made fun of, in a way.
The idea that:
We are Souls having a human experience.
And yet…
Something in me always felt like that might be true.
Not because I was taught it.
But because, at one point in my life, I experienced something that I couldn’t explain any other way.
🌙 An Experience That Stayed With Me
When I was 13 — almost 14 — I had an experience that, to this day, I remember in full detail.
I share that story in this week’s Simply BE…
(you can listen to it above)
At the time, I didn’t feel fear.
I felt curiosity.
Excitement.
A sense of something more.
It was as if something inside of me had been activated — or remembered.
But when I went home and tried to share it…
It was quickly shut down.
Not from fear — but from a lack of understanding.
It simply wasn’t part of my parents’ belief system… so it couldn’t be validated.
So to them, it didn’t feel real.
And so… I was told it wasn’t real.
That I was being silly.
And like many of us do…
I learned to quiet that part of myself.
But I never forgot.
Something in me always remembered… even when I didn’t fully understand it.
🌿 Nothing Was Wasted
What’s interesting is… I didn’t go searching for that world again.
Instead, my life led me somewhere else.
Into the body.
Into the mind.
And eventually… into the Soul.
Fitness.
Yoga.
Life-coaching.
Meditation.
Energy work.
At the time, it may not have looked like it was connected…
But now I can see clearly:
Every step was preparing me.
Grounding me.
Teaching me.
Helping me understand the human experience — so I could eventually reconnect with the Soul in a way that felt real, embodied, and safe.
💔 When Life Opened the Door Again
When my Dad passed in 2016… something shifted.
Subtle at first.
Little moments.
Synchronicities.
A feeling that there was more happening than what I could see.
Not something I could explain… but something I could feel.
A sense that he was trying to connect with me.
And then when my Mom passed in 2022…
That connection deepened even more.
It wasn’t loud or overwhelming.
It was quiet.
Personal.
Sacred.
And incredibly special.
And for a long time… I kept it that way.
Because I wasn’t sure how it would be received.
🌟 Finding My Voice
But something has been changing.
I’ve been finding my voice.
And more importantly… embracing my truth.
Not as something to convince others of.
But as something I’ve come to know through my own experience.
🌊 Surviving vs Thriving
What I know for sure is this:
If I didn’t believe that I am a Soul first —
this human experience would feel very different.
I would still be living in survival mode.
Trying to control.
Trying to prove.
Trying to navigate life only through the mind.
But instead…
I’ve learned how to reconnect.
Not perfectly.
Not all the time.
But enough to shift how I move through life.
🌿 At 58… A Different Experience
I’m turning 58 this year.
And I can honestly say I feel stronger, healthier, and more connected than I ever have.
That doesn’t mean life is perfect.
There are many challenges.
Still moments where my ego takes over.
But the difference is…
👉 I don’t stay there.
I know how to come back.
🧠 The Ego Isn’t the Enemy
This isn’t about getting rid of the ego.
It’s about understanding it.
Working with it.
Even becoming friends with it.
Because the ego is always trying to keep us safe —
but it often does that by keeping us small.
The ego can help us create a better version of our life…
but it will always be a limited version.
Because it’s built from what we’ve learned,
what we’ve experienced,
and what we believe is possible.
But when we connect with something deeper —
with our Soul, with truth…
We begin to move beyond those limitations.
We don’t lose the ego… we just stop letting it lead.
💫 The Soul Expands Beyond Limitations
When you connect with your Soul…
Something shifts.
You begin to see beyond those limitations.
You feel guided instead of controlled.
You respond instead of react.
You don’t escape life.
You don’t avoid it.
You move through it… differently.
🌌 The Soul’s Journey
To me, this is what the Soul’s Journey is:
Not leaving the human experience behind…
But learning how to navigate it with awareness, trust, and connection.
Because:
The ego survives this life…
The Soul surrenders to it — and thrives.
