The Past. The Present. The Future.

The Ego. The Soul. The Brain.

Here is a simple story…

You have an ego, you have a Soul and you have a brain. You need all 3.

Both the ego and the Soul reside in your brain.

The ego lives on the left side and your Soul lives on the right side.

The Ego lives in the past and the future.

The Soul lives only in the present moment.

The ego is neither good nor bad – however it perceives and judges itself and the world around it as so.

The Soul is neither good nor bad – however it only sees beauty, goodness and love in itself and the world around it.

The ego is that part of you that gets things done, keeps you organized, dresses you in the morning and takes you where you want to go. The ego plays many different roles, experiences many different scenarios, and feels many different emotions throughout its day. The ego functions primarily on what needs to be done to live and survive in this world. It also remembers every betrayal, hurt and deep wound experienced throughout its lifetime.

The Soul is that intuitively optimistic, curious and creative part of you that loves unconditionally, relaxes peacefully, plays fully, lives wholeheartedly, sleeps deeply, is accepting of others and appreciates everything and everyone.

Do you recognize your Soul?

Do you recognize your ego?

When the ego’s perceptions and memories of the past are not happy ones it will perceive life through a lens of lack rather than through a filter of abundance. This can lead to fears of the future and view anything “unknown” as something to avoid. This will create problems. Problems of frustration, overwhelm, fear, anger, guilt, shame, judgement, anxiety and/or depression. In order to escape these negative emotions, the ego may choose to blame others, or it may try to escape the discomfort of these memories entirely by engaging in its favorite addiction. (Eating/shopping/drinking/smoking/TV/Social media/gaming/pot/gambling…we all have something!)

Sit for a minute and ask yourself…

How does my ego “see” the world? How does it view;

  • Itself?
  • Challenging people and/or relationships?
  • Paying bills?
  • Work?
  • Government?
  • Pain?
  • The past?
  • The future?
  • The present?
  • What is wrong in the world?
  • What is right in the world?
  • Death?
  • Anything else that comes up?

There will be strong feelings or emotions that emerge. Feel them.

There may be memories that surface and fears that are triggered – feel them.

Then…. the most important question to ask yourself now is;

“Is my ego willing to see it all differently?”

The ego is stubborn, so its first response will be no, and then will proceed to list all the reason why it can’t, won’t or even shouldn’t.  This is the emotional response of the ego and in its defense – it is hard-wired to say no – because it thinks it is protecting you. When there is real danger around – this protection is appreciated, however living your everyday life in fear-perceived protection mode will exhaust you, edge out your Soul and leave you living in anger, reactiveness, overwhelm, frustration and eventually illness and pain.

This is when your brain needs to intervene. Use your mind to get past your mind. Let your intuition trump your fearful thoughts.

Be willing to see things differently. Be willing to see everything through the eyes of your Soul. Use your intuition to shift into your right brain by moving into stillness, putting your hand on your heart, taking 3 full deep breathes, and opening your mind to other ways of seeing.

Now you are in your “right-mind” and instead of seeing through the eyes of the ego and your memories of the past, you can choose to see through the eyes of curiosity. When you are curious and open-right-minded, your creative Soul loves to pop solutions you couldn’t see before into your mind.

Be prepared that much of what you see in the world may have an emotionally charged meaning for you – as you practice moving into your “right brain mind space” you clear the left- brain mind of past associations.

This is where meditation is such a powerful practice. A daily meditation practice shifts you into your right brain mind space.

As this shift slowly happens you begin to realize with more clarity how much your memories hold the illusion of fear and how little you actually understand the situation. This is the perfect time to be open, ready and willing to see anything and everything differently. This is where all solutions arise.

Instead of seeing the world through the eyes of fear or the lens of lack, willingly choose to shift into your “right-mind” by seeing the world through the eyes of love or the scope of the greatest attractor of abundance…gratitude!

The Next 2 Week’s Intentional Practice

  1. Be present, notice when you are stuck in past memories or the fear of the future. Notice the meaning you are attaching to whatever thoughts and emotions have been triggered by the ego in your left brain.
  2. Be willing to shift into your right-mind to access the ability to see everything and everyone differently as through the eyes of curiosity, love and gratitude.
  3. Be curious. Be creative. Be grateful.

Understanding our brain in this way will help us to navigate ourselves through life. In our personal development group we navigate this through the 8 Wellness Wheels (find out more in last week’s free session and blog post here; https://wellnessdefined.ca/tap-in-summary/blog-post-tap-in-video-summary/free-personal-development-class-meditation/ )

Willing to go deeper? Every Tuesday at 11am we meet on-line (or watch the recording if the time doesn’t work for you)

Sign up now for the next 3 month series ($99) here is the link…https://wellnessdefined.ca/shop/memberships/personal-development-monthly-membership/

There will be no Tap In video or blog next week as I will be away, however I am back on Tuesday morning and our personal development group will be shifting into our right-mind and tapping into our Chakra energy system.

Namaste my friends;

Leslie
