As we move toward September, there’s a natural pull to reset. Like the trees preparing to release their leaves, we too are invited to let go of what feels heavy, cluttered, or no longer aligned. By simplifying – in mind, body, heart and home – we create open space to plant new seeds of intention. With presence, patience and awareness, we begin this process gently, one step at a time.
De-Clutter the Mind
Our thoughts often circle like leaves caught in the wind – notice the loops that keep repeating in your mind. Break the loop of negative thinking by bringing awareness in – simply by asking; “Do these thoughts bring me closer to peace, or further away?’
We can open the mind and create “mental space” by journaling, meditating, or even writing thoughts down on paper and setting it aside. If your thoughts are on the negative side or just too much – the act of putting them outside of you clears a little more space inside.
De-Clutter the Body
Our bodies carry more than we realize. Stagnant energy feels heavy, tired, or even restless.
Simple resets help: earthing with bare feet on the ground, drinking more water, gentle stretches, conscious breathing.
Releasing can also look like: eating healthier, moving more, or simply resting when your body asks for it.
Ask: “What can I do for – or release from – my body to feel lighter and clearer?”
De-Clutter the Heart
Emotional clutter often shows up as old stories, resentments, or regrets. Notice what you’re still carrying.
Acceptance, appreciation, forgiveness, compassion and speaking kindly to yourself creates space for love to flow again.
Ask: “What am I ready to let go of, so I can bring more love, acceptance and gratitude into my heart?”
De-Clutter the Home
Our external environment mirrors our inner world. Start small: one drawer, one corner, one surface.
Ask: “What can I let go of, so my space feels more like a sanctuary?”
As you clear space around you, you will feel the energy inside you shift as well.
The Reset
Each small release is a powerful act of self-respect, self-love and self-care. Each clearing creates fertile soil for new intentions to take root.
When we release or clear out what we no longer need or what no longer serves us, we make space for what’s ready to grow. This isn’t about doing it all at once. It’s about small, steady steps toward simplicity.
Resistance will undoubtedly show up – the ego-mind always tries to talk us out of change or anything that feels uncomfortable. That’s where having a mantra comes in handy – here is my new mantra (you are welcome to use it as well) “Do it anyways!” Sometimes it works and other times my ego-mind likes to defy the mantra – however, it has been interesting to observe how often this little push to – do it anyways – has helped me get beyond my ego and its many fears.
This Week’s Intention – With A Nightly Seed Practice
The moments before sleep are powerful. Your mind softens, your subconscious opens and whatever you feed it begins to take root. Here’s a gentle practice:
1. Each day, choose one area (mind, body, heart, home) to de-clutter. Write it down…
-
- Example: Today I will clear my mind by speaking to myself with love.
- Example: Today I will clear my home by organizing one shelf.
- Example: Today I will clear my body by drinking more water.
- Example: Today I will clear my heart by letting go of my need to be right.
2. Follow through in whatever way feels possible.
3. At the end of the night, take a quiet moment to reflect:
-
- Celebrate your follow-through. or…
- If you didn’t follow through, meet yourself with compassion – the intention itself is a part of the shift.
4. Before drifting off to sleep, plant one small seed of intention in your mind.
-
- I welcome in more peace.
- Everything is always working out for me.
- I look for things to be grateful for.
- All shall be well.
- I open to love.
No pressure, no demand. Just a seed dropped into the fertile soil of your resting mind.
Decluttering is not just about clearing space – it’s about preparing the ground. Each time we release, clear or let go, we create room for “the good stuff” to come in. Joy, love, inspiration, miracles and eventually a new life begins to grow. As each seed is planted – a new story begins to unfold. Each seed we plant (especially before sleep) carries the promise of tomorrow.
Namaste my friends – enjoy the next few weeks of clearing, de-cluttering and releasing. Simplify. Release. Reset. Plant. Flourish;
Leslie 🙏💙
