Trusting the Unknown – The Freedom in Letting Go

“Be attached to nothing & open to everything.” – Wayne Dyer

Learning to release attachment – to people, outcomes, or expectations – allows us to move from fear and control into trust and flow. Detachment opens us to divine timing, wisdom, and the infinite possibilities available when we surrender to the unknown.

What is Attachment?

  • As humans, we are attached to everything: people, identities, memories, beliefs, outcomes, and stories.
  • We cling to what feels familiar – even pain – because the unknown feels unsafe to the ego.
  • Our attachments create suffering because they keep us tied to the past or to expectations of how life “should” unfold.

We get attached to;

  • people or relationships we can’t imagine living without.
  • our habits, patterns, identities, or stories about who we are.
  • outcomes, need, expectations & believing we will only be okay – if things turn out a certain way.

Root Chakra – Fear is the block – Trust is the Superpower

  • When rooted in fear, we cling to the known.
  • When balanced, the root helps us feel safe enough to trust life’s flow.
  • Trust in the unseen order of things. (Glennon Doyle)

Crown Chakra – Attachment is the block – Surrender (detaching) is the Superpower

  • Attachment blocks our connection to higher awareness & intelligence.
  • Detachment is not indifference or not caring. It is releasing resistance, control and struggle.
  • Detachment invites surrender, openness and faith.

Together:

  • Root provides grounded trust; Crown offers spiritual surrender.
  • When we release attachment, trust naturally expands.
  • When we trust, detachment becomes easier.
  • One heals the other.

The Ego’s Fear of Surrender

  • The ego seeks control, certainty and outcomes.
  • It fears the unknown because it can’t predict or control it.
  • But freedom lives in the unknown – in the willingness to trust what can’t yet be seen.
  • “Needing to know what happens next” is a trap that keeps us stuck in attachment.

True peace comes when we’ve done our best – then surrender the outcome.

Guided Practice & Reflection: “The Freedom of Letting Go” Trust & surrender

  1. Begin with grounding – Root chakra breath (feel the support beneath you).
  2. Imagine a soft opalescent light pouring in through the Crown, connecting you to higher wisdom.
  3. Visualize cords or threads of attachment (to people, stories, expectations).
  4. With each exhale, gently release a thread – allowing it to dissolve in light.
  5. Repeat the affirmation: “I release these attachments. I trust the flow of life.”
  6. Feel your energy balance between Root and Crown – grounded and free.

Optional Journaling Prompts;

  • Where in your life are you clinging to an outcome or a person?
  • What would it feel like to focus on the well-being of your own self & trust the Universe has your back?
  • What attachments are you ready to release?
  • Where are you struggling to trust the process?
  • What would it look like to trust instead of control?
  • What story or fear keeps you from stepping into the unknown?

Your Soul already knows you are safe to release attachment. Connecting to your Soul daily will remind you that trust is the bridge between fear and freedom. The present moment is where your Soul lives… in true peace and wisdom. Healing begins when we release the mind’s stories and open to the unknown. It’s time to heal. It’s time to connect to our Soul. It is time to step into the unknown with ease, grace, harmony and excitement.

Namaste my friends;
Leslie 🙏💙
