Loving what you do and doing what you love.

The energy in which you show up in when you are loving what you do has a far greater impact on your life and the people around you than the energy you show up in when you are dreading the day.

Your career does not define who you are. How you show up every day of your life does.

What if deciding how you are going to show up today – is your purpose?

Whether your “work” is raising children, running a big corporation, volunteering your time at the local homeless shelter or working a job to make ends meet – deciding to show up to do your best and be the best version of yourself will create so many opportunities for happiness and joy versus struggle and dread.

Whatever stage of life you are at, whether that is retirement or figuring out what you are going to do for the rest of your life – or any step of the way in-between…

Live your life on purpose and in purpose

There are 2 things to remember to keep you in alignment with this;

  1. Do what you love.
  2. Love what you are doing.

Are you doing what you love?

If the answer is no, and you dread most days – then ask yourself why you are doing it;

  • Job security, income, benefits?
  • It is expected of you.
  • You don’t want to let anyone down.
  • You are afraid of change.
  • List any other reasons.

Now ask yourself;

  1. Can you change your current career situation? As human beings we get caught up in roles, titles and dramas – we love to argue for our limitations – so expect all the excuses why you can’t change your current situation to pop up loud and affirmative (hello ego)
  2. If you can’t change it – can you change the energy in which you show up with every day? Will you?
  3. If you could change it – would you?

Sit with these questions for awhile and really listen. The ego is loud, so to hear the truth (hello Soul) you need to be still, quiet, patient and be willing to listen.

When you do sit, when you do allow stillness and silence, when you do listen… Answers come, solutions arise, and opportunities to do what you love present themselves.

What if you are doing what you love…?

If your answer is yes and you are doing what you love – keep on doing it! Then whenever a challenging day or task arises make it a practice to love your way through it. Decide in that moment that you will love the task and see each challenge as an adventure to opportunity. If you are successful at what you currently do – chances are you already do this.

Herein lies the key to shifting from a job, career or situation that you do not love to one that you do love.

Your purpose is to enjoy the process, enjoy the journey. If you currently do not love what you do – commit to the practice of purposely enjoying whatever it is you are doing. Shifting your perspective from the internal chatter of “I have to do this” to “I get to do this” is a powerful mindset shift.

By doing this – doors will open for you. Opportunities will arise and choices will be available.

Keeping your mindset in the “I have to do this” or “I hate my job” will keep you stuck and unable to see, hear or access the doors and opportunities opening for you.

What if your purpose is to shift your perspective and your mindset?

Shifting this mindset is a practice that requires patience. It will require you to choose to live each moment in purpose and on purpose.

To shift your perspective from one of lack in your current job to one of abundance and opportunity;

  • Focus on what is good in your job/career/situation.
  • See it as a stepping stone, adventure and learning experience to your next opportunity.
  • Do not complain.
  • No blaming anything and anyone (including yourself).
  • Take full responsibility for your situation. (This is empowering!)
  • Find peace, joy and gratitude in every moment of your doing.
  • Do your best.
  • Detach from other’s opinions.
  • Detach from needing to please.
  • Detach from needing approval.
  • Release your fears.
  • Follow your heart.

Do we have more than one purpose?

Yes! Your purpose in this lifetime is often changing. It evolves and shifts based on the choices you have made and your experiences.

Your human self has many purposes in this lifetime, you may even have many different career paths and you definitely have many different experiences in this lifetime.

The Souls Purpose

Your Soul came here with the purpose to experience a human existence with specific lessons to learn! If your Souls purpose was to learn forgiveness – your human experiences will reflect this. You will have experiences that will allow you to align with forgiveness and if you miss this alignment, then your actions (and karma) will keep presenting you with more opportunities to learn forgiveness. It may take a lifetime to learn this – it may take a few heartaches. The people, jobs and relationships that challenge you the most are your greatest opportunity to learn your Soul’s purpose, and when you truly learn it – your soul’s purpose has been fulfilled and a new purpose will present itself. This process has little to do with your career path and everything to do with how often you show up “loving” in your day.

By beginning each morning with the intention to love what you do in every moment sets the energy of excitement, gratitude and love in motion. This will shift the daily decisions you make and the paths you take.

To live in purpose and on purpose means to experience more joy, excitement, passion and flow in your life and less struggle and discomfort by showing up as the highest version of yourself and doing your best.

Our “career or purpose” may even be to re-define who we want to be, what we want to do and how we want to show up.

We have every day and many experiences to define this.

When we tune into our own unique skills, gifts and talents we learn to navigate any situation to a space of “loving what we are doing” (tune into the tap in video for more on this)

This is a big topic – this is simply scratching the surface.

This Week’s Intention

  1. At work, play and with every challenging or mundane task today…do everything with purpose. Be present. Find the joy and adventure in it all.
  2. Decide every morning how you want to show for the day. This defines not only who you are now but who you are becoming.
  3. Notice your energy throughout your day – do everything with love, passion and excitement.
  4. What unique skill, gift or talent of yours can you use today to make someone’s day better.
  5. Do one thing today with the intention of making your day better.
