Facing, speaking and feeling your truth

This week in Canada, we mark Truth & Reconciliation Day – a time to reflect, to listen, and to honor the courage it takes to face difficult truths. While this day holds a collective meaning, it also carries a personal invitation: to reconcile within ourselves.

Truth and reconciliation are also about the stories we carry in our own hearts. The truths we are avoiding. The wounds we are holding onto. The moments our ego convinced us it was safer to grip tight rather than let go.

Last week, we learned, the ego (rooted in the solar plexus) often believes it is protecting us by holding on. It wants control. And when it’s in the driver’s seat, facing hard truths or letting go feels nearly impossible. The heart, however, is where reconciliation begins – it softens, forgives and reminds us that life is too short to carry old grievances.

This week, I’m inviting you to look at another powerful partnership: the throat and navel chakras.

  • The Throat Chakra calls us to honesty – not just with others, but within ourselves. To stop pretending and ask: What truths have I been avoiding? What story am I still living in – and why? Because I feel unsafe? Or because I am still getting something out of it that I haven’t wanted to admit?
  • The Navel Chakra invites us to feel what’s underneath. To allow emotions to move through. Feel the injustice. Feel the regret. Feel the grief. Feel the betrayal. Feel the fear. Even feel the unimaginable. The navel chakra is the energy center of creativity and rebirth – and if it could speak, it would remind you: these feelings will not destroy you. In fact, feeling them will save you. On the other side is the ability to reclaim joy, happiness, creativity and freedom.

Just as nations cannot reconcile without truth, we cannot reconcile within ourselves without honesty. It is time to face these truths. Place one hand on the throat (or side of the neck) and one hand below the navel, breathe and ask:

  • What truth am I ready to stop avoiding and instead honor?
  • What am I holding onto so tightly that I can’t see clearly?
  • What am I ready to reconcile with, so I can finally let it go?
  • What am I afraid will happen if I heal or release this?
  • Am I willing to create healing, joy, or peace in its place – even if that looks different than my ego wants it to look?

Reconciliation – in the world or within ourselves – always begins with facing some difficult truths. But truth, when paired with compassion, awareness, and the willingness to feel, has the power to set us free.

This Fall season, as the trees release their leaves, maybe we too can release what no longer serves us. Holding onto what needs to be let go of is a form of self-betrayal. Whether it’s a relationship, an illness, past mistakes, regrets, betrayals, or anything we’ve avoided facing – out of deep fear, guilt, shame, blame, or even deeper grief – it’s time. Time to face the truths that are hard to look at. Time to feel into them. Time to take responsibility for our lives and empower ourselves to release old stories. It’s time to let go.

Let’s step into truth. Face the hard truths. Reconcile with what you need to release. Make friends with your ego, through honest communication and deep feeling – align with your heart space. Soften into forgiveness. And dare to create a future rooted in peace, healing, and joy.

Namaste my friends;
