“Love is the great miracle cure. Loving ourselves works miracles in our lives.” ~Louise Hay
There’s a deeper truth that many of us are just beginning to truly understand:
The only way to heal ourselves – and in turn, the people we love and the world around us – is to unconditionally love ourselves.
And yet… that’s not what we were taught.
From a young age, our humanness was taught to place conditions on love.
To behave in ways that would earn approval.
To withhold affection when someone disappointed us.
To judge, to criticize, to project fear – often in the name of “protection.”
Our human was taught that love could be revoked.
But the Soul knows differently.
We Are Souls Having a Human Experience
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” ~Wayne Dyer
The Soul isn’t afraid of being rejected or unloved – because it is love.
It knows there is no true power in fear, only the illusion of darkness.
It remembers that we are not separate – but deeply connected. We are all one. We all came from the same source – the same light and we will all eventually return to this same source… each and every one of us.
When we withhold love in this lifetime – from ourselves or others – we are only feeding our deepest fears and the lie that we are separate.
When we place judgment, blame, guilt and shame between us and the people we care about most – we feed this lie. And over time, this builds walls so thick we can no longer hear the truth of our Soul whispering behind them and our relationships all suffer the consequence.
The Power of Coming Back to Love
“The moment you accept yourself just as you are, you open to the possibility of true transformation.” ~Michael A. Singer
Healing starts within. Always. Whether you’re wanting healing of the body, the mind or any relationship…
When we stop demanding perfection from ourselves…
When we start meeting our pain with compassion instead of criticism…
When we stop believing love is something we have to earn…
We begin to heal.
Unconditionally loving ourselves doesn’t mean we ignore the places we want to improve upon. It means we stop punishing ourselves for not being there yet. We love ourselves through the “growing pains”
Punishing ourselves with judgements and criticism keeps us stuck. Loving ourselves through the process moves us in ways only love can move us. And when we stop punishing ourselves, we stop punishing others.
We have all heard the saying “Love can move Mountains” While I strongly believe love can move mountains I believe, patience, perseverance and specifically self-love is at the core of every mountain moved. And maybe you’ve been assigned whatever particular “mountain” you are currently facing – to show yourself (and others) it can be moved.
Love Without Condition Heals Everything
“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” ~A Course in Miracles
When you judge someone else, you are projecting judgments you hold against yourself.
When you withhold love from someone who disappointed you, you are likely mirroring the way you withhold love from your own imperfection.
We don’t heal through blame – not toward others and not toward ourselves.
We heal through acceptance, forgiveness and by remembering who we really are.
The Soul knows who you really are.
The Soul doesn’t see your unworthiness – it sees your light.
The Soul doesn’t keep score – it simply loves.
The Soul doesn’t fear rejection – it knows you belong everywhere and nowhere.
“You only are free when you realize you belong no place – you belong every place – no place at all. The price is high. The reward is great.” ~Maya Angelou
A Reflection for You
This week, ask yourself:
- Where do I withhold love from myself?
- What would it feel like to offer myself compassion instead of criticism?
- What if the healing I’m seeking starts with how I speak to and treat myself?
When you unconditionally love yourself, you begin to radiate a frequency that invites others to do the same.
You become the healing energy the world is longing for.
May your Soul guide your steps this week.
