A Spiritual Journey Back to Self

Have you ever sat with the question “Who am I?”

Not your name. Not the roles you show up for everyday to play – mother, daughter, partner, job title, leader, friend, caregiver. But who you are underneath it all… beneath the mind’s noise, the emotional patterns, the stories, the illness, the anxiety or the need to prove yourself? Who are you, minus the need to be right, people please or justify anything in your life? Who are you beneath, the person you think you are or maybe were told to be?

This question quietly followed me for years – even when I didn’t know how to ask it.

For much of my life, I was caught in my head. Caught in the drama of my thoughts, my emotions, my beliefs, my pain. I was deeply identified with my stories and the narrative in my head – and with all this – came anxiety, reactivity and what A Course in Miracles calls “the sickness of the mind.”

Looking back, thank goodness I loved to exercise. Movement became my first doorway out of my head and into my body. I didn’t know it at the time, but it was the catalyst that would eventually lead me somewhere much deeper – toward awareness, presence and truth.

From Skeptic to Seeker

Today, at 57 years old, I know I am a spiritual being having a human experience. But I didn’t always believe that – not even close.

If you had told my 20-year-old self this, I would have rolled my eyes and assumed you were about to pull me into something religious, dogmatic, or brainwashing. The truth was, I didn’t really know what I believed.

My parents volunteered a lot at our local church when I was growing up, yet I wouldn’t say we were a religious family. I don’t even know what denomination it was – United? Protestant? I’m honestly not sure. What I do know is this: the message my parents modeled and taught was simple – be a good person. And they lived that. That foundation mattered.

Years later, my fitness world led me into yoga – and yoga changed everything for me. This was the first time I heard the phrase: “We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”

At the time, I had no real understanding of what that meant – yet something deep inside me knew there was truth there. I wanted so badly to understand it. Life, however, felt far too intense, painful and real to dismiss as “just a human experience.” My struggles didn’t feel spiritual – they felt overwhelming – and if you had told me my Soul came here to experience all this – I would have scoffed.

And yet… believing I was a Soul first and foremost slowly became a lifeline – I guess you could say that’s when my spiritual journey truly began.

The Path Unfolds

I started reading numerous books by Wayne Dyer & Louis Hay as well as from various different Spiritual teachers. I was searching really. Listening to deeper meanings. I read books like:

  • The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer
  • The Places That Scare You by Pema Chödrön
  • A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle
  • The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra

I completed my 100-hour Yin Yoga training, became a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher, eventually an advanced Life-Coach for Fitness Professionals and a Chopra-certified meditation teacher. But more important than any credential was this realization:

Spirituality isn’t about religion. It’s about healing. It’s about remembering who you are.

You can have deep faith in a religion and still explore spirituality.
You can believe in no religion at all and still walk a spiritual path.
Spirituality asks only one thing of us: willingness.

A Safe Space to Explore Truth

The space I teach from – and the space I’m inviting you into – has no dogma, no fear, no rules about what you should believe.

This is a place to:
• try on ideas
• explore different teachings
• ask honest questions
• feel into what resonates
• discern truth from your own heart

You never have to believe what I believe. In fact, when I teach, I learn even more myself. This is shared exploration – because that’s how Spirit works.

Introducing Everything Spiritual

As we move into 2026, I’m opening a new personal development series called Everything Spiritual.

This is all about where I’ve come from, where we’re going, and how we can all walk this journey together, yet in our own individual way and at our own pace.

Some of the things we’ll explore, in this series:

  • Universal Spiritual teachings from many traditions
  • Seeing life from different perspectives – setting intentions and showing up differently.
  • Calling in for your human experience – more of what you want & desire to feel and experience
  • The nature of the Soul and consciousness
  • Human tendencies and the mind’s patterns
  • Awareness, energy and intuition
  • How science and spirituality beautifully intertwine
  • The influence of moon cycles and natural rhythms

This isn’t about finding the truth. It’s about discovering your truth.

Come if you’re questioning your life.
Come if you’re healing.
Come if you’re curious.
Come if you feel the quiet nudge that there’s more.
